Issue Position: Why I'm Running

Issue Position

As the next State Representative for District 66, I will focus on creating a better business environment in the Capital Region. A vibrant business community needs good schools, low taxes and a healthy traffic network. As a member of your Metro Council, I have fought tirelessly to promote these pro-business ideals.

The Capital Region is on the verge of an economic boom, but our traffic and education system is preventing our community from reaching its full potential. I will make improving the traffic the conditions in East Baton Rouge Parish my top priority. For too long, the good old boy system has prevented infrastructure improvements from going to the areas with the greatest need and has railroaded those tax dollars to pork projects.

A quality education is vital for a young person to achieve their full potential, but a good education system is key for a community to grow and prosper. Baton Rouge is in the midst of an education crisis. Our children are under-performing and our schools are failing. All options should remain on the table as we determine what is and what is not working for our children.

Finally, we need to make sure the hard working citizens of Louisiana are able to keep more of the money they earn. Government must learn to live within its budget. As your State Representative, I will not continue to ask you to continually cut your household budget to fund government projects. It is my job to determine were the state government can cut its budget and still provide the necessary services to the public.
